School & community workshops
I set up the Insight Project to work with different community groups including primary and secondary school children, and adults with physical/ learning difficulties. I run workshops where participants observe and reflect on their self, their feelings, their backgrounds or surroundings through exploring digital photography in a recreational and creative way. This can progress to an introduction to post production work (Photoshop editing, mounting, exhibition set up).
I use a collaborative approach to engage individuals in producing a visual interpretation of their lives and surroundings. The intention often is to display selected work through the participants setting up a local exhibition. This broadens awareness of photography and show its accessibility as a form of expression, as well as a form of art. This initiation into an accessible art form often triggers the participant's awareness of the perception they have of themselves, of their individual environment and their place within the community. The impact can be life changing.
I hold an up-to-date CRB (DBS) enhanced disclosure certificate and have full public liability insurance.
